WAITRESS THE MUSICAL STARRING JESSIE MUELLER
One of the most engaging musicals on Broadway is the show "Waitress" based on the film of the same name written and directed by the late Adrienne Shelly. This enchanting and entertaining musical tells the story of Jenna, a waitress in a diner who has an amazing talent for baking delicious pies. This slice of life story and musical (yes I did that on purpose) premiered with Jessie Mueller in the title role. Jessie Mueller won the Tony for her portrayal of Carole King in the musical "Beautiful". The music and lyrics were written by Sara Bareilles who herself played the role of Jenna for a limited engagement after Jessie Mueller's contract was up. I had the pleasure of seeing both talented women in the show on two separate visits to New York City.
