CELESTIAL HORIZON

The Milky Way rises over the southern horizon in the Flamingo Campground area of Everglades National Park. The skies are so dark here that it makes for great viewing of the night sky and Milky Way. If it's dark enough the Milky Way can be seen with the naked eye and looks like a faint band of clouds stretching across the sky. The longer your eyes adjust to the darkness the brighter the Milky Way seems to be.

My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and although I photograph a wide variety of subjects and locations, the Florida Everglades will always be my first love.
