VIEW OF FLORIDA FROM SPACE

A unique and awe inspiring view of the Florida peninsula photographed from the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Discovery at an altitude of 190 nautical miles. This photo is from a 1985 mission and has been digitally remastered and enhanced. You can see many of Florida's unique features in this photo including Lake Okeechobee just above and slightly west of Fort Lauderdale, and Cape Canaveral jutting out on the upper east side of the state. Cape Canaveral is the place where all space shuttle missions originated from as well as the NASA's historic Apollo missions of the 60's and 70's.

My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and although I photograph a wide variety of subjects and locations, the Florida Everglades will always be my first love.
