THE SMILING GATOR

An American Alligator raises it's head up out of the water in the Florida Everglades at sunset. The American Alligator is the apex predator of the wetlands but is also misunderstood. Alligators rarely attack adults and are much more docile than Nile and Salt Water Crocodiles.

Female alligators are also very protective of their nests and young and will watch their hatchlings for up to a year.

My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and although I photograph a wide variety of subjects and locations, the Florida Everglades will always be my first love.
