PORTRAIT OF A RAPTOR A juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk in the Florida Everglades isn't shy about posing for the camera. I actually spent a good hour with this beauty until it flew off at sunset, most likely to grab some dinner. These hawks have a very distinctive cry and that is actually how I found this one. Not surprisingly, Red Shouldered Hawks have very keen vision and are very efficient predators.
