Description
MADAME TUSSAUDS
The hustle and bustle of Times Square is captured in this long exposure. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Times Square, NYC. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum is a famous attraction showcasing eerily lifelike wax sculptures of famous and notable people. The museum has locations all over the world including London, New York (pictured), Orlando, Hollywood, CA, and Washington D.C. Other locations are located in Europe, Asia, Sydney, Australia, and the newest location set to open in 2017 in New Delhi, India.
Madame Tussaud was born Marie Grosholtz in France and was taught the art of wax modelling by physician Philippe Curtius who employed her mother as a housekeeper. During the French Revolution Marie would search the streets for the executed victims and created molds from the severed heads. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and eventually settled down in Baker Street and opened her first museum. One of the most popular exhibits was the "Chamber of Horrors" where the wax heads of victims from the French Revolution were displayed along with infamous murderers and other criminals. She also created wax sculptures of less morbid subjects such as Benjamin Franklin and other notables from the time.
