CASTLE WILLIAMS
A view of Castle Williams located on Governors Island in New York City. Castle Williams is a red sandstone structure overlooking New York Harbor and is a fascinating piece of New York history. It was constructed between 1807 and 1811 and was part of a network of forts designed to protect New York City from attack. Castle Williams was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
